The Dreamer's Thread

36

Everyone Dreams. But what would you do if you suddenly found out that you were one of the few who creates dreams for the whole world? Would you use your power to harness the light and weave it into beautiful tapestries of magic and wonder, or would you fall prey to the seductive siren song of darkness and nightmares? For tattoo artist Aura Mayville, this becomes a reality as she is ripped from her life of art and music and thrust into a realm where good and evil struggle for control over the minds and hearts of men. With a sarcastic sorcerer, a mercenary, and her Spirit Guide as her only companions, Aura must journey through the dream realm to discover both her power and where her heart truly lies. In a place where anything is possible, can she find the strength to hold on to herself, or will she be lost to the shadows forever?

    Wonderful!
Phenomenal writing, as well as reading. I was so sad to see it end!

    Story vs cast
The story is pretty good. Definitely a "young adult" title. As a book, the plot was interesting and well-written, though the language was a bit stiff. As a podiobook, the cast could've used some work. Starla has a great voice, very smooth, with just enough emotional inflection. Heck, even the mouse was a decent actor. But then there are guest readers like James D. Priest. He may be a fantastic writer, but his audiobook skills are quite lacking. The lack of inflection and stop-and-go dialogue sounded like he was having trouble reading the page he was handed, and it killed the mood. The cast seems to be a collection of podiobook writers, which is fine, but the execution of the audio delivery suffered because of this "club" mentality. If you can get past that, the story is perfect for a prime audience of young women, ages 12-20.

    Amazing!
I absolutely love this book! I chanced upon it by accident and quickly found myself caught up in the dramatic, humorous, and enchanting world created by the words of Starla Huchton. Since listening to the first episode I haven’t been able to stop myself and listened to it constantly until the story’s end. I am generally skeptical of fantasy stories, afraid that it would be just another tale of elves and adventures like so many others, but instead I found myself entranced by something completely new and supremely magical. I do not over exaggerate when I say I could not tear myself away and I eagerly anticipated listening to each next episode. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has an imagination thirsting to explore a new world full of adventure, wonder, and even love. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to Starla Huchton for entertaining my heart and mind with this mystical land of dreams. You have a powerful voice and point of view and I really admire that. This is one tale I will not soon forget.

A story to get lost in
This is really a very engaging, well written story. The production values are high and I could easily get lost in the story. I love Aura and the characters that help her on her quest. I could very easily picture the story as I listened and I just love it when a story captures my imagination like that. I highly recommend giving this a listen.

    A Wonderful Story
I loved this podiobook it was awesome. The story has everything from mermaids to vampires and other various creatures. If you really like fantasy you'll love this book. Another thing I like about this book is that it is appropriate and there isn't any swearing in it.

    Fantastic
I loved it. Plain and simple. The multi voice cast was awesome. Some of the voices were a little ruff but over all I loved it. THanks for putting this together.

    Missing the Dreamer already...
After finishing listening to the final episode of The Dreamer's Thread last evening I felt that ache; a bittersweet feeling that only comes when I have completed a particularly poignant and interesting podcast. As someone who has vivid dreams and occasionally experiences conscious dreaming, I found the story idea immediately intriguing and was kept engaged by Aura's slightly quirky personality and her adventures in the Dreamland. The voice actors were excellent (hooray for the always fabulous voice actor/author Pip Ballantine!!) and I definitely enjoyed the sound quality and theme song. Merci beaucoup, Ms. Hutchton for taking me along on the journey and I look forward to hearing/reading more material, soon, soon, soon, please!!

    Beautiful story
This was a beautiful story of a very imaginative person. The depth behind the characters and world was detailed. The large cast of familiar voice actors has contributed to the quality of this story. As the story progressed, I found myself intrigued by events that I had not expected, but added so much more depth to the story. The choice of music (Waking Dream by Natalie Walker) was a perfect touch to compliment the story. I am longing for a new dreamer to wakeup and find themselves to be in the dreamers thread. This is one of those novels that I will never forget, and cherish the thought of a great adventure to which she has taken me on. I look forward to any additional novels that Starla Huchton publishes. I will certainly recommend this novel to others.

    Amazing, well done podcast
I found this podcast through another of my favorites. The production quality is very high. Starla and her team are very well-spoken, consistent, and the sound quality rocks. More importantly, the story is fabulous. This is a great fantasy adventure that touches on many subjects. I find it riveting, and can't wait to hear more. Thanks Starla and the cast/team of Dreamer's Thread!

    Enjoying the Story
Starla's story may not be for all as the story does take us into her heroin's intial setup to a very different world from the one she is introduced in. However, when Aura is introduced into the dream realm she realizes she is there for a purprose. The introduction to those who will assist Aura in her journey to not repeat past errors in this world is really well done. The voice talent used in the Dreamer's Thread is top notch and each seems to fit the characters they are protraying very well. There is a great combination of bits of humor in the story that helps break up a moment of severity. Starla's own reading of the story shows that she cares deeply for the characters she has written about and is bring to us through her podiobook. Although at the time I write this review the story is not complete I for one am here for the long haul and may find myself wishing for more when the story is complete.

    Really sweet and true fantasy
Great fun listening: interesting characters, unexpectable plot, good production values [some patchwork of dialogue sources] good use of known Podcast voices; nice contrast with present Podcast books trend to the macabre, guesome, undead, [oxymoronically] "graphic" audio-gore and disgust. AND timely updates! Thanks Starla.

    Good work so far.
I'm enjoying the story and the different voices. (So odd to hear Chris Snelgrove not in The House of Grey! LOL) The story moves a bit fast. I hope we'll get to find out more about what's happening with Aura's physical self in reality.
